It is said that the sixth head of the Murakami Suigun (navy) built Kannondō Hall as a watchtower.
The summit of the mountain is reached by following a trail of 700 stone Buddhas to an observatory from which one can enjoy a 360-degree view of the Seto Inland Sea.

Top ① Five Hundred Rakan

At the top of Mt. Shirataki, there is an area of 500 arhats, and it is said that there are about 700 statues, including large and small ones.
Stone statues with various expressions are lined up in a row.
There were also Five Hundred Rakan at Daisho-in Temple on Miyajima! There are many Five Hundred Arhats throughout Japan.

Top ② Shirataki Mountain Observatory and bell

The direction of Mihara, Onomichi, Shikoku, and the Innoshima Suigun (navy) are indicated on the railings in each direction. When we visited the Shirataki Observatory, the weather was beautiful and we could see far into the distance.

Also, there was a bell under the observatory that sounded great!

Directions from the 8th station of Mt. Shirataki

As mentioned at the beginning of this article, Mt. Shirataki can be reached by car up to the eighth station!
The route after getting out of the car is explained in the diagram, and the approach is divided into Omotesando and Urasando on the way to the temple!

Directions from the Shirataki Flower Line parking lot to the top of Mt. Shirataki.

(1) Proceed in the direction of the stairs.
 (Cane is available).

(2) Continue up the stairs and turn left when you see a path on either side.

(3) Turn left, go straight, and you will find a fork road for Omotesando street and Urasando street.

(4) Decide on the path that the Omotesando Street and the Urasando Street will take at the forked road.

(5) After climbing up the mountain, you will reach the top of Mt. Shirataki.

Shirataki is divided into two paths, the Omotesando street and Urasando street, on the way to Mt!
The famous rocks such as Kozu Kannon and Kaeru Iwa (frog rock) are concentrated along the back approach!

About parking information!

The Shirataki Flower Line parking lot/Hachigome parking lot is about 100 meters from the summit and takes about 5 minutes to reach the top!
For those who wish to enjoy climbing the mountain, there is a parking lot at the Shirataki Mountain trailhead, which takes about 30 minutes to reach the summit.
