Along with Oda Nobunaga’s Battle of Okehazama and Minamoto no Yoshitsune’s Battle of Hiyodorigoe, the Battle of Itsukushima is one of Japan’s three famous surprise battles.

In 1553,Mori Motonari launched an army to kill Harukata Sue, who betrayed Yoshitaka Ouchi and killed him.

Mori Motonari planned a surprise attack against Sue’s army because his military strength was inferior.

The Mori army, which was outnumbered, concentrated the Sue army on the narrow Miyajima, built a castle in Miyanoo, lured the Sue army, and planned a surprise attack there.

October 1, 1555

The Mori army numbered 3,500, compared to the 20,000 troops of the Sue army.

The Mori army landed at Tsutsumigaura in a storm with the support of the Murakami navy.

Then he crossed over “Bakuchio” and attacked the main camp of the Sue army at once.

The army was routed and fled to Oenoura, but Harukata Sue, realizing that he committed suicide.

The mountain road that Mori army passed in this battle is the “Bakuchio” introduced this time!
